Reviews of Missouri and Arkansas rivers, floating and camping equipment, and vacation resorts.

Almost There!

Well, the reservations have been made, the supplies have been bought, and we are almost packed. The Hillbillywaterdog gang will be heading for Eminence, Missouri tomorrow morning for our weekend of fun. It looks as though there will be five cabins of us again this year staying at the River’s Edge Resort on the banks of the Jack’s Fork River. Keep checking back, as we will have several pictures and an update of the area activities. We look forward to our weekend adventures, and remember, “Keep your bottom dry!”

Jack’s Fork and Current Rivers Here We Come

Well, the reservations have been made for this years trip to Eminence, Missouri. We are all excited about the trip, and we are looking forward to another good time as usual. Floating on the Jack’s Fork and Current rivers is always an enjoyable event, especially when you are with a fun group of people. Not only do you get to see some beautiful scenery, you can meet some very interesting people.

Staying at River’s Edge Resort is easy and convenient. Just give them a call ahead of time (way ahead of time) as they are pretty busy once canoe season starts. We like staying in the Camper Cabins, as they are close to the water and cozy as well.

When you are ready to go floating, there are several canoe rental sites located up and down each river, some right in town, others within a minutes drive. Whether you choose to float in tubes, kyak, or a canoe, there are numerous options available to you.

Well, its time to start putting my supply list together. Check back again, as I have plenty more information that will be available shortly. Remember: Have fun, and keep your bottom dry!

New Season for Canoeing and Camping

Well, it’s that time of year again to start your planning for the upcoming summer season. We have been busy ourselves researching a couple of places to visit this year, and hope to be able to be a little more consistent in bringing you the details of our trips. We will also be including some tips along the way to help make your vacation experience as enjoyable as possible. Since I am new to blogging, please be patient as my blog may undergo a few changes as time goes by. Please be sure to bookmark this site and check back regularly to see what is going on in the world of canoeing and camping in the Southern Missouri and Northern Arkansas region. Meanwhile, take a little time to view our picture gallery of this past summer’s trip to Eminence, Missouri on the Jack’s Fork and Current rivers. I hope you enjoy these, as well as the others I will be posting later. You can subscribe to this blog using the RSS feature, and keep up to date on the latest information as it gets posted. You can also leave me a comment and let me know if there is specific information you would like to see on this site. Until next time, KEEP YOUR BOTTOM DRY!

A Fine Vacation

Well, the summer is almost over, although the temperature here in southwest Missouri is near 100 degrees. We just returned from a week of vacation in Eminence, Missouri, and I must say we had another great time. This makes the fifth year my wife and I have made this trip, and we have introduced several of our friends to this little river resort. We have taken several pictures, and we are in the process of organizing and resizing them so that we can share them with everyone. I am also in the process of writing a short review of our trip and the area surrounding the resort we stayed at. Keep checking back, as I can only do this in my spare time do to my “Job”. The rest of this site is still under the design stage, but hopefully before long, I will be able to launch my reviews of the various camping equipment, canoes, and other tips and tricks we have learned over the years. Until then, keep your bottom dry!

Welcome to the first post of hillbillywaterdog.com

Hello and welcome to the main page of hillbillywaterdog.com! This is my first venture into the world of blogging, but I hope with time I can gain a little knowledge in this techy world, and maybe actually provide readers with some useful information. Please check back frequently, as my plans are to develop this site as a means for anyone interested in outdoor recreational activities such as river canoeing (floating as we call it), and camping. We have enjoyed doing these type of activities for many years now, and have picked up a few tricks along the way. Please bear with me during this process, and I think you will find a lot of useful information and resources with which to plan your outdoor activities and vacations. I hope you enjoy this site, and I look forward to communicating with you.
